According to my guide book, those crazy Hawaiians consider the west coast of Maui to be the "South Side" of the island. That seems like calling California the "South Side of the US" but I won't argue with locals. The health food restaurant is in Kihei, which is in the North West part of the South Side.Sandy and Cathyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07909903166271414010noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3218021964196695052.post-90305602500737559142011-04-17T17:22:13.049-05:002011-04-17T17:22:13.049-05:00@Sandy No, Kihei is most definitely on the South s...@Sandy No, Kihei is most definitely on the South side of the island. There is no way you can turn a map to make it be on the East side. Hana is on the East side of the island, quite a long way away from Kihei.Amanda on Mauihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07025963903013322746noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3218021964196695052.post-74323476417060682982011-01-25T17:34:23.963-06:002011-01-25T17:34:23.963-06:00I ran across this blog doing a search for "gl...I ran across this blog doing a search for "gluten free luau maui" and glad I found this.

My wife (gluten intolerant) and I are heading to Hawaii this summer for our 20th anniversary and I am SO GLAD with these suggestions you made. I looked at the map -- the place is dead center on the East coast of the island. Just a few corrections though from someone who lives on Maui.

It is spelled Humuhumunukunukuapua'a. Just copy and paste if you don't want to try and retype it all.

The luau you went to is Feast at Lele as Lele is not the name of a person but of the place.
